This comic is over 40 years old and it is the very first issue of Supergirl's landmark solo series — the last regular comic to feature the original Pre-Crisis Kara Zor-El as Supergirl before the character was dramatically changed forever.
In this debut issue, Linda Danvers relocates to Chicago, enrolls at Lake Shore University, and starts a new chapter — only to have a chance encounter with Gayle Marsh, a psychic with incredible powers, setting off a collision course that threatens the entire city. Written by Paul Kupperberg with art by comics legend Carmine Infantino — this is Bronze Age DC storytelling with serious creative muscle behind it.
And here's the bonus that makes this issue even more special: tucked inside is a special preview of Masters of the Universe featuring He-Man teaming up with Superman. A Supergirl #1 AND a He-Man/Superman crossover preview in the same book. That's a lot of 1982 in one frame.
This was the last regular comic series to feature the Pre-Crisis Kara Zor-El as Supergirl — after this series ended, there wasn't a Supergirl monthly strip on the stands for the first time since 1959.
